Summer Music Festival Jazz Ensemble is an auditioned, advanced ensemble of talented young musicians from throughout the South Shore and Greater Boston. During this year’s Summer Music Festival, which ran weekdays from July 11 through July 26, the ensemble learned pieces from the main style periods in jazz and studied some of the greatest jazz improvisers. The group spent significant time developing improvisation techniques, as well as the elements of combo and big band style performance.
